Introductions

I wanted to create a space for folks who'd like to share a little about themselves, where you're coming from, what is your day job, how you're involved with ESD, what you collect, what you love, tips for the virgins, whatever you'd like to share. There are many people who do not use FB and aren't in that group, so the whole idea of this blog was to create an interactive space that is accessible to everyone. You have full control here, you can decide what you want to see, how often you get notifications, you can comment when and where you want and the info stays in one place for you to read and digest at your own pace.

I will go first to break the dust and hope to see the comment section explode with your intros and enthusiasm :)

I am a Medical Social Worker by day, and an Artist and Herbalist at all other hours. I am originally from Sacramento and lived behind the Redwood Curtain up in Humboldt County for 16 years. I currently live on the Central Coast of California in Paso Robles, known mostly for the 200+ wineries that surround the area. I love it here. This will be my 14th year at Burning Man and my 4th with ESD, working on the CIT Team. I keep coming back because for me, Burning Man is like a reset button, it helps ground me and keep me sane in a world gone crazy. I am honored to be serving the OC9 community this year as Mayor and look forward to meeting many new people out in the dust.

  2. Hello all, I am Carrie Abts and live in Scottsdale, AZ. This is my 2nd year at BM and at OC9. Missed it last year, but we were here in 2015. I am married to Jeff Abts, who is a fire captain paramedic in Scottsdale and we have 2 adult men children. I am volunteering for the first time this year in Logistics. (with two of my shifts as over night shifts!! Egads what was I thinking?)

I retired from the City of Scottsdale 8 years ago (at 50 years old) I had a full career in Recreation Management, Community Development, Redevelopment and Crime Prevention education.

I currently teach Hatha Yoga at Scottsdale Community College and am a professional clown, focusing on face painting.

I am also the Gate/Greeter Lead for the AZ Burners' event Saguaro Man, held every year in northern Arizona during the last weekend of April.

We are bringing a 10X20 Costco Garage and will be setting it up as a private camp cuddle/hang out space. Look for it next to the Wellness Center.

I do not yet have a playa name. Maybe this year!
