Safety is not Third

I'd like to introduce our OC9 Safety Officer, Sean Irwin. He'll be making sure that we are in compliance with the Org Safety rules and regulations. If you are bringing gasoline for a generator(or for any other reason), using power cords, slinging fire poi, using rebar, setting up tripping hazards, or any other number of potentially hazardous  things, expect a visit from this guy. In an effort to make sure everyone is prepared with no under the cover of darkness surprises, please read these guidelines from the Burning Man Org. We will be complying with all of them like the law abiding citizens we are :)

Here's a little more about Sean in his own words:

"Sean here.... little Bio.  I have been a Firefighter Paramedic for almost 25 years in Idaho and Washington.  This will be burn number 5 and fifth year with OC9.  I work ESD Fire but camping at Medical Camp 9 is the perfect fit.  This year I will be keeping an eye on safety making sure we don't burn what isn't supposed to burn.  I can't wait to get back to camp and see everyone!"

In addition, I asked Sean if he had any personal safety tips and his response was enlightening:

"Safety Tips? COMMON SENSE! Most Burners are actually veterans at camping and the out doors, but "high density" camping does change a few things. Trip hazards for the tent stakes and rope are very common at Burning Man. Light and soften your rebar"

I hope you will all take the time to read some of the info that applies to you below, as an ESD Camp, our Safety preparation and standards should exceed the average camp out there. Le'ts be prepared!
